Temporary Protective Order/ Interim Order

Monday-Friday 8:30-4:00 pm. Go to the District or Circuit Court, ask the Civil Clerk’s desk for Petition of Protection. After business hours, weekends and holidays go to the Court Commissioner to get an Interim Order. The Commissioner will inform you of the date/time of your second hearing.

Remedies under this law can include: Order the abuser to stay away. Remove the abuser from the home. Give temporary child custody.

Protection Order Advocacy and Representation Project (POARP)

Emergency walk-in legal clinic for victims of domestic violence. Located in Circuit Court. Provides free protective Order legal advice and representation.


Filing Criminal Charges
