I have practiced law since 2006. I was admitted to the Maryland bar on December 13, 2006. When I was admitted to practice law, I was working for the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office. As soon as I was admitted, I was sworn in as an Assistant State’s Attorney. I worked there for 3 years and then started my own law practice in 2009.
I generally handle cases that involve going to court or trial work. That means if a client needs to appear in court, I am by their side to handle their case. I also do all of the advance work that precedes a court appearance, including paperwork, interviews and correspondence with police, insurance companies or opposing parties. That includes criminal cases, where people are charged with a crime or DUI/DWI or a traffic ticket.
I also handle cases that involve personal injury or accidents. That means if you have been hurt because someone else was negligent, then I help you recover money for your injuries. This includes seeking and documenting the appropriate treatment for your injuries. I also handle family law, medical malpractice, will drafting and estate administration.
I represent all types of clients, from blue collar workers to professionals. Anyone who is facing a criminal charge, a traffic ticket or has been injured and needs a lawyer to fight for their case.
I handle about 300-400 cases every year. This includes my decade of private practice, in addition to the thousands of cases I handled during my tenure as a prosecutor with the Baltimore County States Attorneys Office. The matters I handle vary from serious criminal charges to minor misdemeanors. I have also represented hundreds of clients hurt in car and truck accidents as well as medical malpractice cases.
Fees and costs are based on the type of case you have. For criminal and traffic cases, including DUI and DWI cases, I charge a flat fee. That means the price you are quoted is the total cost of legal representation. For personal injury cases, I charge based on a contingency. That means the fee is based on a percentage of the final settlement or verdict in the case. Family law cases, including divorce and child support are charged on an hourly rate. Clients make an initial deposit that we draw from as the case progresses. I charge a flat fee for wills and for estates, that fee is set by statute.
I start every case with one question; How do we win in court? That is the end of the line and most of my cases are decided in court by a judge or jury. I prepare for each case as if we are going to trial. I also prepare for each step in the case and try to find loopholes to reduce the charges or increase the chance of winning at trial.
Sometimes there are other ways to reduce or resolve the case without going to court. For example, personal injury claim may be settled out of court with the insurance company.
I am available by email or phone. I advise my clients to always call me if they have a question or concern about my case. Once you hire me, you can call me at any time to discuss your case and meet with me in person to discuss the next steps.
That all depends on what type of case you have. I can typically give you a good estimate of potential outcomes and advise you about the probability of each outcome.
